More charcoal kilns destroyed to protect the Nyakweri Forest

More charcoal kilns were destroyed at Nyakweri forest to discourage people from going on with the charcoal business. The team also burned many sacks of charcoal which were well hidden in the forest ready to be transported to various towns. Elephants are still giving birth inside this forest & if the forest is gone then human wildlife conflict will increase. So far 27 people have been arrested since the operation started & more will be arrested to stop the destruction and save the remaining part of forest. Indeed it’s through great teamwork from different organizations that the operation is going on smoothly. We appreciate all the rangers involved with a great help from the Trans-Mara KWS senior Warden who is with the team throughout the sweeps.
