January 31: Rains increasing livestock predation and making work difficult

Impacts of El Nino!! The rain is still pouring down in Masai Mara and this has caused most of the wildlife to migrate to the community areas. We are currently dealing with the issue, and we are receiving predation reports on a daily basis. In our records, we have 27 cows already eaten by the lions along the Oloololo escarpment and around Nyakweri forest. First, we are very grateful to the community members who are working closely with the team and Mc rangers by giving information when the lions are sighted in the community areas although there’s a huge request for compensation. We are trying to talk to them to avoid any retaliation attack or conflict. For now we have a crisis on this issue but trying our level best to solve it.
