Oracle Volunteers Visit AKTF in the Mara

AKTF is still getting over the excitement of hosting volunteers from the software giant Oracle, who generously support our Build A Boma project through NatGeo’s Big Cat Initiative.

We toured AKTF’s school projects at Oloolmoongi, visited biogas initiatives that AKTF introduced in the community, saw dozens of lions and other wonderful game in the park, and talked to the AKTF anti-poaching team (in addition to Mara Conservancy Rangers) about threats to wildlife in the area.

The main event, though, was the volunteers aiding a local livestock owner to construct a predator-proof boma for his animals. It was an incredible learning experience, team-building exercise, and just plain fun time for both Oracle and AKTF. Thank you so much, Oracle, for supporting our Build A Boma work and for choosing to spend a weekend with us in the Mara!
