School Education and Support

AKTF, with the help of our supporters, invested in enhancing education facilities in the Mara region. The level of literacy is significantly lower than in other regions of the country due to lack of basic facilities, a partially nomadic lifestyle, and poor nutrition. This leads to underdevelopment and high levels of poverty.

We support a number of schools in the region by donating textbooks, uniforms, desks, water tanks and sports equipment. We have assisted with the construction of nine classrooms at the Oloomong’i primary school, as well as dozens of desks and hundreds of textbooks and uniforms, a school lunch cooking house, toilets for students, and a leveled field on which students can play.

In 2014, we began working with the brand new Nailepu Nursery School, and have currently facilitated the building of five classrooms there. This work, like at Oloolmongi, has been made possible by the generous donations of our caring supporters.

We also continue to offer adult education opportunities for the team, who have little or no formal education. The main focus of these lessons is to study English, basic Mathematics, and to improve business awareness thus improvin their business skills.
